When I was a kid, my dad used to yell at the TV everytime the news came on. He’d yell at the Mayor of Vancouver announcing a new program, or at the Premier of BC, or the Prime Minister of Canada. There was so much cynicism and mistrust that I, as a child, thought my dad needed to relax and see the good in it all. Now, in my mid 30s and with 2 kids, a mortgage, and a business owner, I see the world a bit differently. I paid the goverment 25K in property transfer taxes when we moved last year. I pay the government property taxes, income taxes, sales taxes, goods and services taxes. I pay the government remittance fees every month for my business. I pay and I pay and I pay, and what does it all come down to – PROROGUE in the parliament.

I try to see things for what they are, not for the good, or bad, just the facts. But it seems to me that Stephen Harper is chicken at facing the opposition, at facing his responsibilities. If he can’t face his opposition then why does he have the luxury of taking an extended vacation from his job when he shouldn’t be in that position at all.

Obviously, Canadian politicians are much less glitsy than the US political scene, but wouldn’t it be just nice for once if he we had a trudeau type barackish-like obama in our parliament that WORKed, faced issues head on, and created a legacy of leadership and inspiration?
